Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 21: The residents of lane 5, ward 1 of Dharp Kotha, Gandhi Nagar constituency demanded cleanliness, maintenance of drains and street lights in the area.
While talking to Early Times, residents raised various problems being faced by them in their respective areas including choked drains, deplorable roads, streets, damaged street lights, lack of containers for garbage and many more.
“Most of the residents of these areas claimed that past’s elected representatives from the area never visited the area to know the whereabouts of his voters, who voted for him. Even now under LG’s rules in J&K, the administration is not taking care of us, we are suffering from choked drains, damaged streets and roads in our locality. Even at several places the street lights have not been installed, either most of defunct”, the resident told ET.
“Youngsters of the area disappointed with the lackadaisical approach of the officers have lambasted the administration. We are glad that at least, particularly Early Times, is highlighting our issues continuously. We appreciate campaigns launched by ET highlighting lack of basic amenities”, said a youngster. They residents said that apart from these issues, PDD’s electricity bills with huge amounts even beyond one lac rupees have turned into a nightmare for them. “We use electricity vey judiciously to avoid unnecessary high amounts on our bills, but yet the department officials arbitrarily sent huge bills”, they said. “Our complaints regarding lack of civic services in our area are gathering dust in JMC, DC office and JK Grievance cells for years together. They have submitted complaints of their deplorable road, damaged cable and street registered with grievance cells. JK Grievance cell forwarded our complaint to the concerned office, and no further action till has been taken”, they said.
Editor-in-chief, Early times Munish Gupta encouraged the masses and assured them that ET would continue to highlight their issues.
Munish Gupta has requested the Government to solve the basic demands of the people.
