Early Times Report

Srinagar, Apr 21: Over 1000 people, including women and children, were treated and provided free medicine at a series of medical camps organized by Army in collaboration with two private organizations in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Lt Col Emron Musavi on Wednesday said that Srinagar-based Chinar Corps in collaboration with Rotary Club, Pune and Borderless World Foundation organised a series of medical camps for the people of Naugam, Uri and other parts of Baramulla from April 15 to April 18 April 2021.
“A healing touch was provided to more than 1000 individuals of north Kashmir by a team of 17 doctors and support staff which included Gynecologist, Eye Surgeon, Eye specialist, Family Physician, General Physician and other Medical Officers, Nursing Staff from Rotary Club and Army,” he said. He said on completion of the medical camps, Sudarshan Natu, President Rotary Club, Pune and the team of Doctors and representatives of Rotary Club and Borderless World Foundation interacted with Lt Gen DP Pandey, Chinar Corps Commander on Tuesday.
Lt Gen DP Pandey appreciated their efforts to come all the way from Maharashtra to provide medical support in border areas of Baramulla. “Their efforts are especially commendable as the trip has been taken despite the challenges posed by Covid-19 pandemic. This spirit of selfless service by volunteers is praiseworthy,” he said. The Corps Commander said that he was glad that the team chose Baramulla for the effort. “People of Baramulla have contributed to peace in Kashmir since October 1947, the time when tribal’s sent by Pakistan entered Baramulla town and ravaged it,” Lt Gen Pandey said. He said in those challenging times the people of Baramulla and the Army fought alongside to save Kashmir from falling into the hands of Pakistan. “Local heroes like Maqbool Sherwani died fighting the tribals. The town of Baramulla has always been peaceful and committed to development,” he said.
He also mentioned that the town is blessed with a secular fabric and has Mandirs, Masjids, Gurudwaras and Churches with people taking pride in showcasing all of them with same zeal and fervour.
