GDC Kalakote organize online poster making competition

Kalakote, Apr 23: Anti-drugs and Rehabilitation cell of Govt Degree College Kalakote organized online Poster making competition on the theme, “Our Fight Against Drug-Abuse”.
The event was one among the series of events/activities which are being conducted in commemoration to “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav”. Drug abuse is a widespread problem that makes individual drug users the prime victims. But it also affects the society in general. Drug abuse can cause serious physical and mental deterioration and if not curbed at right time, it can cause serious effects on Society as well. It can hollow out our society like a termite.
We have been fighting against this menace since long now ,but there is a lot yet to be done.We are yet to make various efforts as a society to uproot this menace and creating awareness in younger generation with the help of the youth itself can go a long way on this path.It was in this context that this event was organized as a small effort on the part of GDC Kalakote to ensure the involvement of our youth in our fight against Drug- abuse and the students giving an overwhelming response participated with full enthusiasm.
They portrayed their anguish against this social problems by pouring colors on paper, through art and their ability to say a lot without saying a word and made this event successful. The judges for this competition were Dr.Pinkey Rakwal (HOD Economics), Prof. Marve Sofi (HOD Sociology), Prof. Shakoor ( HOD Urdu). Eventually Manvi Sharma (B.A Sem. 1st), Faiz Ahmed (B.A Sem 3rd), Asif Karim (B.A Sem 5th) and Pratibha Gupta (B.A semester 1st) bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Speaking through an online platform, Principal GDC Kalakote, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta congratulated the organizing committee and all the participants for organising and making this event a success especially when we are facing a hard time where drug abuse is raising its ugly head like never before.
