M Raju reviews implementation of JJM in Ganderbal
Ganderbal is among 18 districts of country to achieve 100 percent PHTCs

GANDERBAL, Apr 23: Commissioner Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, M. Raju, today visited Ganderbal and chaired a meeting to review implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) , a centrally sponsored programme aimed at providing tap water to every rural household besides assessing progress on vital projects of the department being executed in district.
District Development Commissioner, Krittika Jyotsna, Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Kashmir, Iftikar Ahmad Wani, Superintendent Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Ganderbal, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti besides other concerned Engineers and officers attended the meeting.
The meeting had a threadbare discussion on progress achieved so far under JJM, total households provided with tap connections, action plan for 2021-22, priority areas, campaign to provide piped water supply to schools, AWCs, GP buildings, health centres, water quality monitoring and financial plan. Executive Engineer briefed the chair through a power point presentation about the progress made towards implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission and other ongoing vital projects in the district.
While reviewing progress on providing Functional House Holds Tap Connections in the district, it was informed that there are a total of 41551 rural households and all have been provided tap connections. It was informed that Ganderbal district is among the 18 districts of the country which has achieved the feat of achieving 100 per cent target in the first year of commissioning of the JJM scheme.
While reviewing progress regarding provision of piped water supply to schools, AWCs, Health and Wellness Centres, it was informed that 97 percent target has been achieved for which Commissioner Secretary impressed upon to step up efforts for providing 100 per cent tap connections to all the institutions in the district.
