EARLY TIMES REPORT

KISHTWAR, Apr 30: With the reports of an increasing number of corona cases and deaths across the country, the people in Kishtwar District could be seen rushing to various COVID vaccination centers across Kishtwar District to get vaccinated.
As per the details available with Early Times, among the people visiting the COVID vaccination centers are the people above 45 years and the frontline workers who till a few days ago skipped the vaccination on one or the other.
Speaking to Early Times, a front line worker said that he had some hesitation about the safety of the vaccination, but with repeated appeals from the doctors and medical officials assuring that the vaccination is safe, he chose to get vaccinated.
Several people told the Early Times that after seeing dead bodies lined up outside graveyards and cremation grounds, they left with no other option to get themselves vaccinated.
Some people also expressed apprehensions about the shortage of vaccination, adding that they are rushing to get vaccinated before the doses disappear off the shelves.
Many people who were below 45 years also arrived for the vaccination but had to return back disappointed. They were advised to get themselves registered on an official website for vaccination which is going to begin from May 1. “We have sufficient doses of vaccination at this time. We have no information about the shortage of vaccination as of now. Let’s see what instructions we will receive from the higher ups,” said a health worker wishing not to be named.
The health officials said that they are ready for vaccination of people in the age group of 18 years to 44 years, adding that they are ready to vaccinate the people in the next phase commencing as per schedule from May 1.
