DDMA requisitions 50% medical facility of BEE ENN, SDDM Hospitals
Augmentation of hospitalization capacity in Jammu district

JAMMU, May 8: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)/District Magistrate, Jammu has requisitioned BEE ENN Charitable Hospital, Canal Road, Jammu; SDDM Hospital, Channi Himmat, Jammu; Maitrika near Jodhamal Public School, Jammu & Medicare, near Auqaf Market, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu under section 34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The order to this effect issued by the District Magistrate, Jammu, Anshul Garg states, “There has been a sharp spike in number of active COVID-19 positive cases in District Jammu over the past few days, resulting in corresponding increase in demand of Medical Facilities for the patients requiring immediate medical interventions; whereas, it has been felt by the District Disaster Management Authority to augment the existing hospitalization capacity in the District by pooling of resources, besides creation of new infrastructure.”
The order further reads, “Whereas, it has been found that the facilities of BEE ENN Charitable Hospital, Canal Road, Jammu, SDDM Hospital, Channi, Jammu, Maitrika near Jodhamal Public School, Jammu & Medicare, near Auqaf Market, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu are feasible and adequate for augmentation of Level-I and Level-II COVID Care infrastructure in the district,” adding that whereas, it has been accordingly decided, in the fitness of things, to requisition both these facilities to tackle any emergent situation obtaining due to the current pandemic.
“Now, therefore, in view of above, I, Anshul Garg, IAS, District Magistrate, Jammu vide powers conferred upon me under Section 3of Disaster Management Act, 2005 do hereby requisition the medical facility-BEE ENN Hospital, Canal Road, Jammu and SDDM Channi, Jammu upto 50% of their respective capacity to be used for COVID mitigation efforts. However, the facilities may continue their routine operations till the time the requisition is materialized,” read the order.
Further, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu is hereby designated as the Nodal Officer to work out the further modalities to operationalize the said facilities on need basis, the order read.
