| BJP leader’s daughter poses with cop’s service rifle, picture goes viral | | |  Saahil Suhail

Srinagar, May 8: An undated picture, showing BJP leader’s daughter posing with service rifle of a cop somewhere in North Kashmir, has gone viral on social media sites. The picture shows a lady brandishing the service rifle of policeman and two other cops standing alongside her. Senior Police officials confirmed to Early Times that the lady in the picture is daughter of Block Development Council Chairman who they said is affiliated with BJP. “This BJP leader is from north Kashmir,” they said. The picture has gone viral on social media sites and invoked sharp criticism from netziens. “Policemen put their lives at risk and protect these politicians in return making mockery of this privilege,” many social media users opined. Police officials in Baramulla ruled out any action against cops or BJP leader’s daughter, however maintained that it was ‘improper’ to handover service rifle to civilians. This isn’t for the first time that a politician or politicians ward was spotted posing for a picture with the service rifle of cops guarding them. In 2014, former legislator Javed Mustafa Mir was spotted brandishing an AK-47 openly.
Picture depicted Mir holding an AK-47 and standing casually next to armed personnel. Prior to this, National Conference (NC) leader Nasir Aslam Wani’s son was also spotted brandishing an AK-47 gun.
