Wheat procurement in full swing, farmers happy: SDAO

JAMMU, May 14: Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Marh, Dr Ashwani Jojra today conducted inspection of procurement centres and Mandis.
During the inspection SDAO Marh, DR Ashwani Jojra observed that wheat procurement is in full swing at procurement centers and Mandis at Bhadrode.
While interacting with the farmers and beneficiaries namely Manohar Lal, Uttam Singh, Sodagar Singh, Thoru Ram, Vikram Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Ved Singh, SDAO Dr Jojra got a healthy input from the farmers and the Mandi Level Contractor (MLC) Dhanmesh Singh that purpose of establishing these Procurement Mandis by the government is fulfilled up to the climax as farmers are getting good return in shape of better rate of Rs 1975/ Qtl and the mode of payment is also very decent, eliminating malpractices prevalent in the trade and business previously. Farming community is lauding the role of joint initiative of Food Corporation of India (FCI) assisted by the Department of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare.
The Procurement is strictly under the guidance of SOPs of COVID-19.
While answering all the queries raised by SDAO Marh facilitating the farmers by the government are well responded by the farmers and beneficiaries complementing the higher authorities especially the LG Manoj Sinha, Principal Secretary & Directorate of Agriculture, they also requested to increase the number of such Mandis and Procurement Centers in other areas lacking the same facilities.
