EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 15: In a unique initiative, Dogri Sanstha Jammu held an online short-story-telling programme in which the stories written by senior iconic Dogri writers, who are no more in this world, were read by the short story writers of present generation.
The stories selected for this programme include those written by late Madan Mohan Sharma and late Bandhu Sharma, which were read out by Nirmal Vikram and Rajeshwar Singh "Raju" respectively. Since Nirmal Vikram is also a radio artist and a news caster and Rajeshwar Singh "Raju", in addition to being a prominent short story writer, is also an accomplished theatre artist, the story-telling of both was very impressive and highlighted the nuances of the stories.
Prior to the story reading, a brief introduction of each of the story writer was given by well known Dogri scholars Prof Shashi Pathania and Prof Veena Gupta. This gave the viewers a proper perspective and created appropriate environment for the story telling. Gazing from the responses and comments of the numerous on-line viewers, the program appeared to be a great success.
Earlier, welcoming the viewers in the programme, Prof Lalit Magotra, President of Dogri Sanstha Jammu shed light on the relevance and importance of this programme. He said that this endeavour will serve twin purposes-it will make the public, especially the young generation, aware of the high-quality literature written in their own mother tongue and will also provide a healthy entertainment and relaxation to the viewers, of which they are in a dire need in these times of pandemic. He also spoke about the great contribution of late Madan Mohan Sharma and late Bandhu Sharma to the Dogri literature by raising its standard. In the end of the program, Gyaneshwar Sharma, Vice-President of Dogri Sanstha Jammu presented a vote of thanks. The technical help for the smooth functioning of program was provided by Pawan Verma.
