6/7/2021 12:05:44 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 6: The NSS Unit ( Khidmat) and Red Ribbon Club of GDC Vijaypur organized an Intra- College e-poster competition on “Time for Nature” and “Impact of COVID-19 on Nature” themes to mark “World Environment Day” .
Every year, the day is celebrated to create public awareness for restoring environmental health to make the earth more green and clean for the present and future generations. Owing to the crisis created by COVID this year, online entries were invited from the students with the sole objective of channelizing young minds to create environmental awareness through e-poster contest. The students participated in the contest with zeal, enthusiasm and fervor.
As many as 42 entries were received reflecting unfeigned concerns of young minds towards environmental issues especially global warming, pollution and over-exploitation of resources. The posters were screened by event coordinators based on the pre-designed criteria such as imposition of theme, clarity of ideas, colour combination complimenting the themes and inclusion of a symbolic message.
Riya Verma of B.Com sem-II, Supriya Salathia of B.A Sem-IV & Abhay Kumar of B.A Sem- II were adjudged as first, second and third respectively in the poster making competition. Principal of the College, Dr. Sangeeta Sudan expressed delight to see the volunteers participate whole-heartedly through online activities during the tough and extremely sensitive times. She said that protection of environment is the moral responsibility of all and the college is doing its utmost for conducting many activities for environmental protection.
The whole event was co-ordinated by Sunil Kumar Mangoch and Prof. Anil Bhagat. The event culminated successfully with distribution of e-certificates to the winners and was highly appreciated by the students in general and educationists in particular.
