People suffering for potable water supply, department in denial mode
6/14/2021 11:36:03 PM

TAHIR MUSHTAQ
EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAMBAN, June 14: Owing to the poor management and negligent attitude of the officers and officials of Jal Shakti Department, people of the district Ramban were forced to suffer badly in the scorching heat of the current summer season for potable drinking water.
Despite tall claims by the Jal Shakti Department to provide adequate potable water supply in the district Ramban proved just eye-wash even though they failed to supply water in various locations of district headquarters like Chandroge and Maitra besides other areas of the district.
Similar reports also came from Chanderkote and other adjoining panchayats where people came on road and staged protests against the department and sought intervention of district administration to ensure proper drinking water supply in these months of peak summer season.
Taking an action on the issue, the District Administration has also constituted various tehsil level committees to resolve issues of general public and the contact numbers of concerned officers have been notified by the administration.
Ironically, spending crores of rupees besides issuing orders for the general public with each passing day, the water crises in Ramban district are worsening due to poor management of Jal Shakti department who instead of showing its interest in solving the problem fails to act both on ground as well as at administrative level.
While talking to Early Times, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Ramban Sunil Sharma assured the early resolution of the issue.
