Jammu, June 24: On the Martyrdom of Lt. Shyama Prasad Mukerjee founder of Bhartiya Jan Sangh & to pay rich tribute to him a 15 days plantation drive w.e.f. 23/06/2021 to 06/07/2021 was started today at municipal park situated at Susheel Nagar near Jaswant Plaza, Talab Tillo Jammu of ward no. 32 by Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu in presence of Vivodh Gupta, General Secretary BJP JK U.T, Rekha Mahajan, Prabhari BJP Jammu west Distt., Sat Paul Karlupia, Councillor ward no. 32, Sanjay Baru Councillor ward no.41 Keshav Chopra, Mandal Pradhan BJP Talab Tillo Mandal, Ayodhya Gupta, senior BJP Leader, Rajesh Gupta District General Secretary & other prominent inhabitants of ward no. 32.Speaking on the occasion, Mayor & other dignitaries told that during this fortnight from 23/06/2021 celebrated in the memory of the founder member of Jan Sangh a large number of saplings of different categories including ornamental, herbal etc will be planted in different parks as well as in vacant area of the city.
He said that the plants are the lifeline of people as they offer desired resistance to pollution which has crossed the admissible limits especially in urban sectors. Besides, these act as oxygen (fresh air)thus rejuvenating our cities by providing much needed respite from global warming, rain deficit and poor air quality. While stressing on protecting nature, he appealed to the general public to come forward & plant at least five trees to make the environment green & pollution free.
Claiming that trees are also the natural habitat of birds & several other creatures like honey bees etc and said that it is the necessity of present time to have plenty of trees in the vicinity to sustain life.
