DIPR's Cultural Wing hosts webinar on COVID- its prevention & precautions

UDHAMPUR, June 28: Jhanvi Jamwal, a student of 6th Semester was adjudged best speaker in the Webinar on “COVID Appropriate Behaviour” organized by the Cultural Wing, Department of Information & Public Relations, Jammu in collaboration with Department of Music, Government College for Women, Udhampur here today.
Principal, Government College for Women Udhampur, Prof. Minu Mahajan was the chief guest and Joint Director Information, Jammu, Namrita Dogra was the guest of honour on the occasion.
As many as 10 students of the college participated in the symposium contest and expressed their views on the topic and most of them stressed on spreading the message of COVID Appropriate Behaviour.
Second and third positions were clinched by Shruti of Semester 6th and Radhika Sharma of Semester 2nd, respectively. Two consolation prizes were also given to Anita Devi of Semester 4th and Sheetal Devi of Semester 4th. The participants were awarded prizes and certificates of merit.
While speaking on the occasion, the Principal appreciated the efforts of the Information Department and Music Department of the college for holding the contest in the institution. She stressed upon the students to generate awareness about COVID- its prevention and precaution among the masses in their respective areas.
Prof. Minu Mahajan said that such contests would provide a platform to young students to channelize their talent in the right direction. She urged the department to organize such programmes on regular intervals.
On the occasion, a cultural programme based on the said topic was presented by the artists of Cultural Wing DIPR, Jammu, besides a scintillating cultural programme was also presented by students of Music Department, GCW Udhampur.
Prof. Sumita Rao, Department of Zoology, Dr. Mool Raj, Department of Urdu, and Prof. Shallu Jasrotia, Department of Music acted as judges.
The proceeding of the programme was conducted by Senior Artist of DIPR Jammu, Suresh Kumar.
Among others, HOD Music, Dr. Seema Sharma, HOD Chemistry, Prof. Kewel Kumar, Assistant Prof. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Prof. Yash Kumar, other senior faculties members, Drama Instructor DIPR’s, senior artists of Information Department, staff members and a large number of students also attended the webinar.
Later, a similar programme was organised by the Cultural Wing of the Information Department in collaboration with Bal Niketan, Ambphalla Jammu.
President, Bal Niketan Ambphalla, Suresh Chander was the chief guest of the programme while as Joint Director Information Jammu, Namrita Dogra guest of honour on the occasion. Vice President, Bal Niketan Ambphalla was a special guest.
As many as 15 students participated in the programme and threw light on Covid appropriate behavior and spread the message regarding precautions to be followed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Hari Om, a student of Bal Niketan Ambphalla was adjudged for first prize, while Sonu and Varun got the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
In her address, Joint Director Information Jammu said that such activities can play a pivotal role in educating the masses about the natural calamity and safety protocols. She also urged the participants to raise awareness among the people to save themselves from the pandemic.
