Prez Kovind reaches Lucknow by special Presidential train

New Delhi, June 28: President Ram Nath Kovind reached Lucknow from Kanpur Central by a special Presidential train today, 28-6-2021 on the penultimate day of his tour to Uttar Pradesh. The President had left Delhi on 25-6-2021 by the special train to reach Kanpur stopping en-route at Jhinjhak and Rura of Kanpur Dehat, to interact with people known to him while in Kanpur he visited his parental village Paraunkh.
It is note worthy that Kovind is the first serving President to reach Lucknow while traveling by train. Earlier Indian Railway had requested the President to plan his travel by rail. A special train was constituted at Delhi Safdarjung Railway station for his travel to Uttar Pradesh as the Presidential saloon in use since independence had been de-commissioned on the behest of the President himself. This move which has saved crores of rupees that was required for the refurbishing and upkeep of the coach.
The President said that he had a pleasant and memorable experience travelling by the train. He thanked the Railway staff and officers for their diligent service to the nation throughout the nationwide lockdown and beyond. He added that the contribution of the railways in nation building is unequivocal. Riding on the wheels of the trains the country will soon be on the path of resurgence and recovery.
Governor of UP Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Dr Dinesh Sharma, , Ministers of UP Govt. , Mayor of Lucknow, MPs, MLAs and MLCs, General Manager Northern Railway, Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager Northern Eastern Railway, Vinay Kumar Tripathi, Director General RDSO, Virendra Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Lucknow Division, Tarun Prakash and other senior officials of state administration and Railways were present at the station to welcome the President.
In Delhi, Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal, has thanked the ‘Peoples President’ for choosing to travel to his home state by train. He said that this is a morale booster for each one working hard on the Indian Railways to keep the wheels of the nation rolling.
