APM paved way for further subjugation of Jammu region: Harsh Dev
6/29/2021 12:15:22 AM

Early Times Report

Chenani, June 28: Accusing the GoI for out rightly ignoring and neglecting the aspirations of Jammu region at All Party Meet held in New Delhi of late, Harsh Dev Singh chairman-JKNPP and former Minister said that BJP had stirred a hornet’s nest in the land of Dogras evoking feeling of alienation, embitterment and outrage.
He rued that BJP’s appeasement politics of inviting Kashmir-centric and pro-separatists parties to the meeting and ignoring the Jammu based nationalist leaders descended like a thunderbolt from the blue. “Whether in the past years or post abrogation of Art 370, Kashmir has always remained a pampered child while Jammu has always been neglected, be it Assembly seats, govt jobs, allocation of funds, tourism or power and development projects.
In the much hyped APM, Jammu province had been given a negligible share in representation but from the valley, the leaders who toe the line of the secessionists were cordially invited. Even those who did not want to attend were persuaded,” Harsh rued.
He was addressing public meetings in villages Chunti, lower Mada and Narsoo Nallah in Chenani constituency today.
Asserting that APM would pave way for further subjugation of Jammu region, Harsh Dev Singh said that PM Narendra Modi had given relevance to the Gupkar Alliance which was being termed as ‘Gupkar Gang’ by the BJP until now. He said after discrediting them following abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, the Centre is now treacherously doing business with them. He recalled that during the General elections in 2014 and 2019 besides Assembly elections in 2014, the people voted BJP to power with an overwhelming mandate in these elections.
While the BJP MPs from Jammu region remained mute spectators in the Union capital in 7 years, the Saffron party with its 25 MLAs had compromised with the national and regional interests to empower Kashmir oriented ‘Agenda of Alliance’, Harsh added. “BJP indulged in double standards and duplicity over Jammu issues.
Referring to the olive branch extended to the Kashmiri leaders by the Prime Minister in New Delhi, Singh regretted that the slogans to end ‘Dilli ki Duri’ and ‘Dil ki Duri’ emanating out of the APM had conversely distanced and alienated Jammu region from Delhi.
Appealing the people to get rid of the ‘compulsive obsessive disorder’ of supporting Central parties time and again, Harsh Dev Singh said that neither Congress nor BJP have proved their worth to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Jammu region.
“They have miserably failed to espouse the cause of Dogras. Whenever you voted them to power, their focus just remained on Kashmir. The vicious cycle of subjugation had eroded the identity of Jammu region in such a way that the nomenclature of J&K is perceived as ‘Kashmir’ in the minds of the people outside the erstwhile State and the country. Only Panthers can take you out from the socio-political quagmire”, said Harsh.
