| Pahari delegation meet SDM Bhalessa Gandoh, demand promotion of Bhalesi dialect | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 9: The Core committee for Promotion of Pahari dialects of Chenab valley led by its Founder and Secretary Sadaket Ali Malik met Sub Divisional Megistrate Bhalessa Dr. Pritam Lal Thappa and submitted a Preliminary Survey Report and Typological sketch of Bhalesi dialect for onward submission to the Adminstrative Departments of Culture, J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages, Chairman JKBOSE, and allied departments for inclusion of Bhalesi (Pahari) in school curriculum, Development of the script of Bhalesi, scheduled language status. The delegation met SDM and apprised him about the local pahari speaking dialect of Bhalesi. The delegation briefed the SDM about the ethnolinguistic importance of this area, and demanded that its script need to be revived. They stressed that Bhalesi is a dialect which is western Pahari and need to be brought under J&K Reservation rules besides steps for its promotion, creation of separate section of Bhalesi in J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages, publication of textbooks in Bhalesi in JKBOSE, creation of pahari Bhalesi section in department of Culture and publication of literature on it. The SDM gave a patient hearing and assured them that their representation will be forwarded to concerned for onward submission. The delegates who spoke include Sadaket Ali Malik, Surinder Singh, Bodh Raj and others. |
