250 schemes identified in Doda district to achieve 100% household tap connection

DODA, July 13: As many as 250 water supply schemes have been identified in Doda district to achieve 100% household tap connection under the flagship Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)- "Har Ghar Nal Se Jal" scheme.
Jal Jeevan Mission is aimed at providing tap water to all households in a stipulated time frame.
Under the mission, Doda district would be given a go ahead in phase II. However works amounting to Rs less than one crore can be taken up in the two PHE (Jal Shakti) divisions- Doda and Gandoh, of the district before the start of the mission in a full-fledged manner.
Going by the arrangement, 39 schemes for Gandoh Division involving less than Rs 1 crore have been sent to the Technical Assessment Committee (TAC) and 10 have been sanctioned by TAC and are in the tendering process.
The information was given at a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commiss
ADC reviews implementation process
oner (ADC) Dr Ravi Kumar Bharti held today to review the implementation process.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, DIO, Xen Jal Shakti Division Doda, Xen Jal Shakti Division Gandoh, Xen Jal Shakti Division Kishtwar and other officers.
Regarding repair of hand pumps in the district, it was apprised that funds have been transferred to concerned authorities for the same.
The concerned functionaries were directed to make a list of the pumps which need repair and make them functional as soon as possible.
The ADC directed the concerned to adhere to the guidelines as envisaged under Jal Jeevan Mission Action Plan.
He further directed the Jal Shakti Department to put up the proposal for establishment of Jal Shakti Kendra in the District and also move the proposal for hiring the services of an IT professional for the purpose.
