Prof Bhim Singh seeks security cover to party leaders
7/16/2021 11:19:39 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 16: President of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Prof. Bhim Singh has made a submission to the President of India, Ramnath Kovind seeking his intervention to ensure adequate security cover for Panthers Party office bearers.
He alleged that the Panthers Party workers and leaders have been deprived of the security cover due to hostile attitude of the J&K administration.
"I am taking this liberty to draw your kind attention towards my security cover in J&K for the past 14 months. I was also elected as President, J&K National Panthers Party (JKNPP) which is one of the three recognized political parties in J&K and Ladakh. It is that reason I have been under 'Z' security cover in J&K and Ladakh. As 'Z' security protectee, I have been deprived of full security coverage which a 'Z' security protectee is entitled to. For the past 14 months my security vehicle has been withdrawn. Also two PSOs (Police Security Officers) which were stationed in my residence in Jammu, have also been withdrawn", the representation reads.
It further reads, "I was one of those political activists in J&K who was moving from Poonch to Kathua, Kathua to Srinagar, Srinagar to Ladakh twice in a year at the time when militancy was at its peak in Kashmir province and most of the leaders of the political parties slipped away from the Valley. It was only the Panthers Party which was moving in every town and village in J&K, particularly in the Valley. That I was re-elected as a President of JKNPP again in March 2021 but I have not been able to move into the Valley of Kashmir and other militancy-prone areas in J&K because my security vehicle has been withdrawn without any reason", it reads.
The prominent office bearers including State Vice President, State General Secretaries or District Presidents of the JKNPP have not been provided any security cover. Those who were having some security cover have also been deprived of even that of 'X' security cover in J&K, it reads.
