KATHUA, July 16: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rahul Yadav chaired a meeting of the Child Line Advisory Board to review Child protection measures undertaken by concerned departments and other agencies in the district here at DC office complex today.
The Deputy Commissioner took detailed review of the works assigned to the departments and agencies to safeguard the Child rights besides providing care and protection to those in distress.
Underscoring the importance of propagating ChildLine Helpline through IEC campaigns at all levels, the DC directed RDD to ensure displaying of Childline helpline no 1098 at Panchayat Ghars and coordinate awareness drives of Childline with active participation of concerned BDOs.
He also directed the Police Department to prominently display the Childline helpline no at prominent points of all Police Stations and Police Posts in the district.
Similar directions were issued to Assistant Labour Commissioner Kathua and he was asked to circulate and display Childline Helpline number in all functional industrial units running in the district. The ACL was further directed to start the Child Labour survey to assess the ground situation of Child labour in the district.
Chief Education Officer Kathua was directed to start a 'Book Bank initiative' in both private and government educational institutions to help the underprivileged children to get books through the facility of book banks. He was also directed to ensure proper displaying of Childline Helpline no. in all schools and at identified points of school buses. The Deputy Commissioner directed Principal GMC Kathua to establish a hassle free mechanism for Medical Examination of children rescued by Childline or Police and designate a Nodal Officer for the task whenever required. Earlier, the District Coordinator, Childline Kathua presented the working profile of the district unit of the Childline. ADC Kathua Atul Gupta, ASP Kathua Suresh Kumar, CMO Dr Ashok Chaudhary, DSWO Abdul Rahim, SHO Women Cell, Director Childline Kathua and other concerned officers were also present.
