Early Times Report

Kishtwar, July 23: Nearly three years after the arrest of the key aide of Hizbul commander Jehangir Saroori, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing the case about terrorists planning attacks in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the details available with “Early Times”, Kishtwar police on the basis of the questioning arrested OGW and an active HM militant manage to track the Assam based Hizb militant Qamar-uz-Zama in Kanpur UP in September 2018 and with the timely sharing of the information with the police of various states, the major terror plot to carry out terror strike in UP on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi prepared in the mountainous belts of Kishtwar District was successfully foiled at that time.
Sources said that NIA Lucknow will try to put the missing links from Kishtwar and today’s raids at Kishtwar by NIA along with Kishtwar police is said to be the part of the investigation.
The sources said that NIA Lucknow might question a few people who are in touch with Zaman during his stay in Kishtwar
It is pertinent to mention that Early Times in its 8-04-2018 edition had reported about Zaman joining HM and on the same day, Hizb released his picture with AK-47 riffle following which his family in Assam distances itself from him and called for his punishment under law if he had chosen to become the militant.
Early Times also highlighted how Qamar-Uz-Zama managed to dodge Kishtwar police for months despite inputs from army and intelligence agencies.
Qamer-Uz-Zaman alias Dr Huraira alias Qamaruddin (40) son of late Syed ul Hasan, who originally hails from Sarak Pili village in Nagaon area and post Jamunamukh Hozai in Assam.
“He came in contact with a terrorist called Osama Javed of Dachhan Kishtwar, and then joined the Pakistan-based terror-outfit Hizbul Mujahideen in 2017. Thereafter, he underwent training at a militant camp in Jammu & Kashmir. He had also spent his time in Philippines Palau Island from 2008 to 2011. He got married in 2013 to a local girl of Assam and they have a son,” sources said.
Soon after arrest, Zaman confessed being an operative of Hizbul Mujahideen, a Pakistan-based terror organisation. Qamer Uz Zaman, who was quite active on social media since April 2018, was on the radar of NIA.
Qamer uz Zama was running a cloth shop in Kishtwar posh locality in Chinar Gali area from where he suddenly disappeared during early 2017 and since then remains untraceable before his arrest by the UP ATS in September 2018. He had stayed in America for nearly 4 years from where he shifted to Bangladesh where he stayed for about two years before return to India.
The intelligence agencies sounded an alert and finally his movement was traced in militancy hot bed of Dachhan and Marwah after he was seen along with another 21 year old youth Osama Javed from a Dachhan village. After waiting for few months for her husband to return, his wife returned to Assam along with her minor son.
It is pertinent to mention that 2007 UP serial blast in which at least 5 persons lost their lives was also tracked to Kishtwar and was allegedly carried out with the help of HUJI commander Sabha Hijji who was later eliminated by the Kishtwar police in 2008 in Chatroo area of Kishtwar District.
