BJP-Police nexus unleashing reign of terror, alleged Harshdev Singh

JAMMU, July 28: Accusing the District Police Udhampur of unleashing terror against opposition parties and suppressing and oppressing the poor and marginalized sections at the behest of BJP, the activists of National Panthers Party (NPP) led by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman-JKNPP and Yash Paul Kundal General Secretary-JKNPP held a vociferous protest at Jammu today.
The protestors torched the effigy of Udhampur Police and sought punitive action against DSP Udhampur for threatening an SC leader of NPP from Udhampur and misbehaving with the female members of his family last night in Udhampur. The protestors raised slogans of "District Police Udhampur murdabad, murdabad", "DSP Udhampur ko giraftaar karo, giraftaar karo", "Bajpa ke ishare par nachne wale officers ko barkhast karo, barkhast karo".
Speaking to media persons, Harsh Dev Singh said that the NPP SC Cell President Rampaul Bhagat had protested against the atrocities on dalits, poor and other marginalized sections in Udhampur District yesterday wherein he was threatened of dire consequences by the DSP present on the occasion.
The DSP later made a threatening call to the SC leader in the evening and thereafter sent four Policemen to his house at around 8:30 p.m in his absence. The male constables misbehaved with the wife of the SC leader besides threatening his children. The matter was immediately reported to DC Udhampur, DIG Udhampur and IGP Jammu who assured of appropriate action which however was still awaited.
Singh maintained that the Police administration in Udhampur was indulging in selective targeting of NPP leaders and workers while allowing immunity to the goons affiliated with BJP. The vandals, marauders and other lumpen elements owing allegiance to BJP were enjoying a free run despite being accused in cases of murders, attempt to murders, arson, rioting, assaults and public nuisance. He said that several officers were acting as stooges of BJP leaders to execute their nefarious designs and to subserve their vested political interests.
Harsh Dev said that the BJP controlled administration had been indulging in persecution and harassment of NPP leaders for quite some time with a view to silence their voice against the govts omissions and commissions. "These more loyal than the king brand officers had booked several NPP activists and its leaders in the past in various frivolous cases only to please their political masters. And the recent episode wherein Rampaul's house was trespassed after sunset without any justifiable reason has further proved how the administration was being abused by the ruling party for promoting its politics of vendetta", said Singh.
And while the NPP leader was harassed for no reason, the administration had failed to act against BJP leaders and its Ex-MLAs who have been blatantly instigating their workers to cause harm on the JKNPP leaders, lamented Harsh. Rebuking the BJP for unleashing the reign of terror in Udhampur District, Singh said that BJP which had become desperate and frustrated in view of the growing mass base of Panthers Party, had now resorted to browbeat the workers of the Panthers Party and others who refused to subscribe to its political agenda.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Pratap Singh, Khajoor Singh, Rajeshwar Sambyal, Mohinder Singh, Vishab Singh, Surinder Chouhan, Rashpaul Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Satpaul Singh, Ajay Singh besides others.
