Rains trigger mud slides near holy Amarnath Cave

Srinagar, July 28: Heavy rains triggered massive landslides near revered Shri Amarnathji Cave, however no loss of life or injury was reported. The massive mud slides created panic among deployed security personnel there. District Magistrate Ganderbal Kritika Jyotsana told media that men and machinery have been mobilized. She said there is no loss of life reported so for. “The slides have occurred in Brari Patri and between lower cave and holy cave,” she said.
The video about the slides is viral where some persons probably security personnel can be heard saying that stones are running down from the top.
Tehsildar Pahalgam Dr Mohammad Hussain Mir told Early Times that two SDRF teams were already deployed near the cave while as additional teams have been sent to access the situation.
Meanwhile, the Weather office here on Wednesday issued an advisory, warning of flash flood, mudslide and landslides besides waterlogging in low lying area in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
“At present, it’s cloudy at most places of J&K with thunderstorm and rain at some places of Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi and neighborhood,” an official of the MeT office said in a statement
“Widespread intermittent rain is most likely to continue till July 30th,” he said, adding, “heavy to very heavy rain is also possible at some places.”
He said that it may lead to flash floods, mudslides, landslides and water-logging in low lying areas.
