JTC-SKF protest enters 319th day, hold dharna

JAMMU, Aug 17: A protest sit in was held by the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC)-Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) J&K at Jagti township Nagrota as a part of their ongoing stir. Addressing the protesters, Shadi Lal Pandita, president JTC-SKF, said that we are protesting for the last 319 days but the government is doing injustice to Kashmiri migrants while migrants relief holders are in dire straits, their monthly cash relief is very low in the face of high inflation. He demanded that the cash relief should be increased from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 as soon as possible. He said government jobs for unemployed youth and interest-free bank loans should be given to over aged youths. Pandita said that Kashmiri Pandits have suffered a lot for the last 32 years and that loss is in crores of rupees which happened to every family, adding that the adequate compensation should be paid to each and every property holder/landlord. Pandita further said that there is an urgent need to build three townships in the Kashmir valley near Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits. Pandita also urged the government to give political and minority status to Kashmiri Pandits. Those who participated in the protest included Ravinder Koul, ML Razdan, Kashi Nath Bhat, Rakesh Tickoo, Shuban Ji Raina ,Vinod Bhat, Kamal Ji Pandita, Rakesh Ambardar, Vijay Bakshi, Gurmeet Singh, Om Prakash Mahajan, ON Raina and several others.
