Sham Sharma paid tributes to Padma Sachdev

AKHNOOR, Aug 18: Former Minister and State Vice President Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Sham Lal Sharma has said that every year special programmes would be organized on the Doyen of Dogri language and literature Padma Shree Padma Sachdev in Akhnoor constituency henceforth.
While paying rich tributes to Padma Sachdev during a programme organized by Dogri Bhasha Academy at Kameshwar Temple, Akhnoor here today, Sham Lal Sharma shared some significant and nostalgic moments of his meeting with her on various occasions.
Terming her contribution to Dogri, Dogra and Duggar state, he said that it was Padma Sachdev’s relentless lifelong efforts that earned the present status and dignity to this language at the national level and acknowledging its recognition Dogri found a place in the eighth schedule of the constitution. He dwelt in detail on the Dogri Poetess’ literature and asserted that people across the nation and globe especially cherish her literature.
Sharma said that she was a legend of Dogri language and a household name in the literary field of India besides in the Dogras. With her efforts, Lata Mangeshkar gave her voice to some Dogri songs which are very famous and sweet
Earlier, President of Dogri Bhasha Academy, Roshan Baral threw light on the life and contributions of Padma Shree Padma Sachdev. Heena Chaudhary and Kunwar Shakti Singh narrated some special incidents about her life.
Former MLA Dr Krishna Lal discussed her poems, while Yashpal Nirmal from Jammu highlighted her contribution towards Dogri. Sant Maheshwar Das also dwelt upon the ups and downs in the life of the great Dogri poetess.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were senior litterateur Dhyan Singh, Padma ji's brother Dnyaneshwar, SDPO Akhnoor Varun, SHO Akhnoor Hilal Azhar, Mohan Singh Jamwal, DDC Bhalwal Brahmana Bhushan Baral, DDC Akhnoor Sharda Bhau, BDC Rahul Dev, Jagdish Bhagat, Rajinder Ranjha, Rattan Bhardwaj, Rishi Kavi, Jugal Chanan, Jagan Nath, Sugam Baral, Manga Ram, Rakesh Malhotra, Shilpa Mahajan, former President Akhnoor Deepesh Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Shamsher Singh, Surekha Rajput and Senior citizen of Akhnoor Subhash Langar.
