SLCA organizes training programme for paralegal volunteers, police officers

JAMMU, Aug 21: JKSPYM State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), Government of India organized a day-long training programme for paralegal volunteers and police officers in collaboration with the District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Jammu. More than 45 persons participated in this online training program.
The topic was on “Basics of Drug Abuse and Primary Prevention”. Resource person on this occasion was Dr Vinay Kumar, Assistant Professor in Social Work Department of Central University, Jammu.
Under National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) prepared by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India and National Institute of Social Defense has been real encouragement and supportive for programs on Drug abuse and prevention, since it is need of an hour because around 5 crores young people are addicted to drugs in India as per the recent National survey conducted by Ministry in collaboration with AIIMS.
The webinar was inaugurated by Yahaya Firdous, Secretary DLSA. In his inaugural Speech he mentioned the importance of webinars on such topics particularly in the context of Jammu& Kashmir where drug abuse problem is at high prevalence these days. Dr Vinay Kumar during his power point Presentation and discussion made aware participants about current scenario of drugs in India and Particularly in J&K, The workshop ended with discussion and question answer session
