DC Ramban reviews progress on NH-44 four laning work, Railway project
Resolves issues projected by construction companies

RAMBAN, Aug 23: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today reviewed progress on prestigious four laning project of NH-44 and Katra-Banihal Railway project here at a meeting. He also resolved bottlenecks and other confronting issues highlighted by the construction agencies.
The meeting was attended by the ADDC, Rajinder Sharma; ADC, (Collector Northern Railway) Harbans Lal; Superintendent Engineer, PWD, ACR, SDMs of Banihal, Gool and Ramsoo, CGM, IRCON, Dy. Chief Engineer Northern, Railway Sangaladan Section, Dy. CE Northern Railway, Project Manager KRCL, Dy. SP Traffic Ramban, Dy. SP Headquarter and officers from NHAI, IRCON, AFCON, Railways, Navayuga, HCC, GAMMON India, NHAI besides representatives of Revenue, PHE, PWD and Forest Department.
The DC constituted a committee headed by the Additional District Development Commissioner to resolve local issues including maintenance of dumping yards, disposal of damage and compensation cases besides local labour issues. The DC directed construction agencies to implement all directions issued by the Lieutenant Governor during his Ramban visit on April 13 to provide maximum benefit to locals, especially to youth from ongoing national projects.
Emphasising the importance of prestigious Railways and National Highway four lane works, the DC assured the companies engaged on the job of removing all bottlenecks for speedy work on Railway and National Highway construction sites. He discussed all the issues and passed on directions to concerned officers for timely redressal of the same.
The DC asked the SE PWD to complete assessment of Land and damage compensation cases related to Railway projects in the district.
The DC also directed the SDMs and Tehsildars to ensure hassle-free working atmosphere for construction agencies to complete national projects within the set deadlines.
The DC directed the construction agencies to inform local Tehsildar and Police Station 24 hours before conducting blasting for construction purposes at their working sites.
The DC directed XEN, PHE to complete ongoing water supply scheme to provide water supply to areas of Khari tehsil which are affected due to construction of Railway tunnels. The DC also directed DFOs and the District Mineral Officer to conduct joint visits to all dumping sites and submit status reports within prescribed time. Assistant labour Commissioner was also directed to visit construction sites to check wages and other benefits being given by the construction agencies to workers.
On the issues of shifting of electric poles, encroachments alongside the four laning project and Traffic management, the DC passed directions to concerned departments to resolve the issue immediately.
The DC also directed the concerned authorities to install signboards and crash barriers, blacktopping from Karoal to Chanderkote camp and repair Jaswal Bridge.
He further directed them to ensure smooth passage of the traffic by maintaining potholes and drainages besides ensuring proper maintenance of NH-44 at all crucial spots.
The DC also set the timeline for resolving the issues and directed all stakeholders to work in cohesion to complete the projects and also sort out the pending issues of affected population due to the projects.
