Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar on Tuesday said that with the collective efforts of all security agencies over 100 militants have been killed so far in the valley in 2021.
"Today, the collective efforts of J&K Police, Army, CRPF and people of Kashmir have led to killing of over 100 militants in 2021 so far in Kashmir division," Mr Kumar said.
However, the IGP Kashmir once again reiterates his appeal to all 'misguided youth', who have joined militant folds, to shun the path of violence and return to mainstream.
Kumar said that police is committed to accept them with open arms as society needs them the most especially their parents.
During the last 24 hours, five militants, including two top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commanders, have been killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Kashmir valley. Two top commanders of LeT, identified as Abbas Sheikh and his Second-in-Command Saqib Manoor Dar, were killed in a swift and brief encounter with J&K police in Alochi Bagh area in Srinagar uptown on Monday evening. Three LeT militants were killed on Tuesday in an encounter which ensued after security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
