JAMMU, Aug 25: Principal Secretary to Horticulture Department Navin Kumar Choudhary, IAS conducted an extensive tour of Jourian area of Jammu district today.
During the programme, the Director Horticulture Jammu Ram savak, JKAS, welcomed the Principal Secretary and apprised him about the progress being made in respect of plantation in sub-tropical areas of Jammu division during the ensuing rainy season under the scheme CAPEX. While speaking on the occasion, he informed the gathering of farmers about the incentives available under various centrally and state sponsored schemes of the department and urged them to come forward and avail the benefits on different components viz: Bore Well, Geo-tanks, Custom Hiring Centres etc. for upliftment of their socio- economic status.
The Principal Secretary handed over the sanction for start of work of Community Tube Well with distribution network, involving an incentive of Rs 25.00 lacs for irrigating 10 Ha command area of the orchard. This will help the farmers of the kandi belt in irrigating their orchards which will ultimately enhance the production thereby increasing their income. Further, sanctions of four Power Tillers involving an incentive of Rs. 2.00 lacs were also distributed among the farmers of the area. He impressed upon the officers to cover the whole area with plantation of fruit crops as there is a great potential for horticulture and also asked the concerned department to open small veterinary units in the area for the facilitation of the public.
Later, he inaugurated the compact High Density Plantation of Mango and Kagzi lime spread over an area of 130 kanals at village Jeda (Jourian), Khour by planting a Mango plant as a part of plantation drive in presence of Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, JKAS, Jt. Director Horticulture Jammu C.L. Sharma, BDC Chairman, Khour Balbir Singh, BDC Chairman Bhalwal Neha rajput, Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu S. Sarabjit Singh and Sarpanches of the panchayats.
The Principal Secretary was accompanied by Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, JKAS, Jt. Director Horticulture Jammu C.L. Sharma, Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu S. Sarabjit Singh, District level officers and other block level officers and officials of the department.
