Early Times Report

Poonch, Aug 25: Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) of Mankot education zone on Wednesday conducted a surprise check of various government schools without wearing a mask.
According to the details available with Early Times the ZEO visited various schools in Mankot Zone and violated the COVID-19 sops by moving around without a mask. “The government has passed clear cut instructions to the employees and commoners that moving around without a mask is not permitted. A top official violating the norms is shocking,” said an employee.
It’s in place to mention here that the Director School Education had passed an order that in view of the possibility about third Covid wave breaking out no community classes should be held in schools.
During ZEO’s visit students were also called to greet the officer. This is clear violation of the government order which clearly states that teachers should provide online classes without calling students to the school.
Locals said that District Development Commissioner Poonch should take cognizance of why teachers are calling children to the school. When contacted ZEO Mankot refused to talk.
In this regard, when the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch was contacted, he said that students are not allowed in the school according to the guidelines issued by the government.
He said, “I am being told today ZEO conducted surprise check of the schools in Mankote Zone. If he has violated any norms appropriate action will be taken.”
