Seminar on Art education culminates at SCERT

JAMMU, Aug 25: National Seminar on Art Education- Policy, Practices and Pedagogy organised by Art Education and Vocational Education wing of the SCERT-J&K Divisional Office Jammu through virtual mode concluded today.
The seminar was organised on the directions of Principal Secretary to Govt., School Education Department B.K. Singh IFS and under the guidance of Director SCERT J&K, Prof. Veena Pandita and supervision of Joint Director SCERT Jammu Surinder Kumar.
The seminar was attended by SCERT , DIET Faculty and resource persons from whole of Jammu and Kashmir UT. The objective of the seminar was to build up an understanding on the significance of Art Education in school and to have an understanding on Art Integrated Learning as a pedagogical approach, to provide a platform for sharing researches and innovations in Art Integrated Learning and to provide a platform for sharing new developments and challenges in the implementation of Art Integrated Learning in schools.
In the National Seminar presentations were presented by keypanelists/speakers viz. Dr Sulekha Bhargava, Teacher, Delhi, Mandakini Mathur, Chairperson & Founder Devrai Art Village, Panchgani , Mansa Pande, Sr. Teacher Educator & Consultant, Maharashtra; Rekha Chug, Teacher, DMC Primary School,Delhi; Nirupma Sharma, Teacher, SDMC Primary School, Delhi; Narayan Mangalram, National Teachers Awardee 2020 Primary Teacher, Gopalwadi, Maharashtra; Walter Peter, Founder & Director Laa Po Laa TIE, Ahmedabad; Dr. Santosh Rana, Lect DIET Rambagh, Patna; Jaswinder Kour, Coordinator DRC for Pre-primary Education, Jammu Division; Roohi Sultana National Teacher Awardee BMS, Kashipora Srinagar and Prof. Jyotsana Tiwari, DEAA, NCERT, Delhi
The speakers endorsed the key reflections of NEP 2020 on Art Education & Art Integrated pedagogy as a tool to achieve the objectives of holistic, meaningful, integrated and joyful learning.
Earlier the seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Veena Pandita, Patron of the seminar who spoke at length on the subject and said that Integration of arts with other subjects means that art becomes the medium of teaching and learning, that is, drawing and painting, dance, drama, music etc become an integral part of class room process.
The seminar was co-ordinated by Tapasya Sharma, Senior Academic Officer, SCERT J&K under the convenorship of Mr.Kishore Kumar, Head, of the Wing & Advisory Committee comprising Irwinder Kour, Deepak Sharma,Tapasya Sharma, Pooja Sharma, Akash Khajuria from SCERT-JK and Jaswinder Kour, Coordinator, DRC Pre-primary Education Jammu.
The valedictory session was presided over by Surinder Kumar, Joint Director, SCERT J&K Jammu and Vote of thanks was presented by Irvinder Kour, Asstt Prof/+2 Principal,Art Education and Vocational Education Wing -SCERT J&K Jammu. The technical support was provided by Yugal Kishore & Akash Khajuria.
