| KVK Reasi organizes training programme for SHGs | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
REASI, Sept 4: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized one day training programme for the women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) here at Malad village of Pouni block in Reasi district of J&K which was enthusiastically attended by a number of women of SHGs of the area. The programme was organized under the guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Prof SK Gupta.
The core objective of the training programme was to create better understanding of important features and functions of SHGs including regular saving, record keeping, regular meetings, regular inter-loaning, linkage with banks, repayment ethics and assistance to the SHGs for the upliftment and sustainable livelihood of their members. Dr Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi initiated the programme with the warm welcome of participants. During the exhaustive technical session he highlighted the concept of SHG and discussed on various income generation activities among the rural women. He said that the SHGs can transform the rural areas by raising the socio-economic conditions of the rural women.
He also guided the participants on packaging, leveling, branding and marketing of processed agro-products. KVK, Reasi provided cabinet dryer to the SHGs members by which they can prepare candy, pickles, aam papad etc. easily by keeping good quality. A field visit of the participants was also organized during the programme. During the programme many quarries were raised by the group’s members which were answered by the scientist in a satisfactorily way. Bimla Devi and Anita Devi, awardee women farmers of the area were also present during the programme who shared their experiences with other farm women. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr Banarsi Lal with formal vote of thanks.
