Gas agency caught delivering underweight cylinders, sealed

Anantnag, Sept 04: The authorities have sealed Ghulshan Gas Agency at Pahalgam after it was caught delivering underweight cylinders in Palpora area of Wednesday.
However, no FIR was registered against the agency despite the passage of over three days now. "We were continuously receiving complaints from Ganeshbal and adjoining areas against the said has agency that the cylinders it was selling were underweight. Acting on these complaints, I along with my Councilors raided the godown of the gas agency and found around 200 to 250 cylinders underweight. After this, a team led by SDM Pahalgam, AD Food seized the underweight cylinders and sealed the godown of gas agency," MC President Pahalgam Owais Nazir told Early Times.
Earlier on September 01 (Wednesday) a vehicle of Gulshan Gas Agency was spotted carrying underweight gas cylinders in Palpora area of Aishmuqam.

The administration acted and seized the vehicle carrying underweight cylinders. "On receiving compliants we seized vehicle carrying 90 cylinders. We randomly checked 10 cylinders out of 90 and found them underweight," TSP Aishmuqam told Early Times over phone.
Assistant Director Food Anantnag, Wali Mohammad admitted having seized the vehicles carrying underweight cylinders. "Under our supervision, the legal metrology department is weighing the cylinders and on the completion of exercise we will submit a report to SDM Pahalgam," AD Food said.
SDM Pahalgam Naseer Ahmad told Early Times that he had communicated to concerned department to file a written compliant with Police for 'indepth investigation'.
"I have directed the concerned department to approach Police with a written compliant as the issue merits in depth investigation," SDM told Early Times.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla also assured fair probe into the matter.
