Jammu, Sept 7: In order to get first hand appraisal of public grievances & demands, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli, IPS today held an interactive session with various public representatives of Police sub division Akhnoor.
DDC Vice President, Suraj Singh Bhau, DDC members, BDCs also participated in the said interactive session besides Sarpanchs & panchs of the area. Participants raised issue of drug menace in the area though they appreciated the role of Police in arresting drug peddlers recently. They further requested for increased patrolling in border areas, and increased patrolling to check thefts and other crime in the area. Participants also requested SSP Jammu to raise issue with concerned authorities regarding regulation & implementation of mining rates, supply of water & electricity in panchayat Bhalwal, Keri Rabta & other far flung areas. They also requested that Police should organize drug awareness camps in the area, besides requested for augmentation of resources & infrastructures in border units. Later, a detailed crime review of PS Akhnoor, Gharota & Khour was also held wherein SSP Jammu enjoined upon the IOs & SHOs to put in all efforts to dispose the under-investigation cases on merits so that writ of law is established. He also directed the SHOs/IC PPs to build a rapport with general public by addressing their grievances on priority and to ensure that no miscreant is able to disturb peace & tranquility of the area. He directed officers to particularly focus on border areas & smugglers in view of recent incidents in neighbouring districts.
The meeting was attended by SP (Rural), Jammu, Sh. Sanjay Sharma, SDPO Akhnoor, Sh. Varun Jandial, SHO Akhnoor, Sh. Hilal Azhar, SHO Khour, Sh. Balwinder Singh, SHO Gharota, Sh. Khyatimaan Khajuria & IC PPs/BPPs of Sub Division Akhnoor. |
