9/8/2021 10:54:30 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 8: Sarpanch Association President Dansal, Balbir Singh has stressed upon the need for strengthening the sports infrastructure across the rural areas of Jammu region.
Balbir Singh stated this while addressing the youth during a programme held here today to encourage the sports aspirants of the area. During the programme the Sarpanch Association President handed over cricket kits to the players of Nadel Cricket team at Panchayat Kathar Upper in Nagrota. Singh urged the government to create ample sports facilities for the youth of Nagrota constituency which abounds in sports aspirants who have immense talent but are unable to display it in absence of any proper platform in the area. He asserted that if adequate sports facilities are provided to the youth of this area they will undoubtedly excel to bring laurels at the national as well as international level.
Balbir Singh said that drug peddlers across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir continue to lure youth towards drugs which has become a big menace for the society despite the enforcement agencies nailing the culprits. In such a situation the Sports is the best means to keep the youth of rural areas away from drugs in view of the fact that there are almost no avenues of entertainment in these areas, he asserted.
He appealed to the Union Territory Administration led by LG Manoj Sinha to initiate immediate measures in order to provide adequate sports infrastructure and facilities in the rural areas in the ultimate interest of the youth and the society at large.
Among others present on the occasion were Panch Vijay Kumar, Bishan Kumar and Kuldeep Sharma.
