SAMBA, Sept 10: A MoU between Central University of Jammu, J&K (UT) and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) a statutory organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, was exchanged. Major General Manoj Kumar Bindal, Executive Director, NIDM, signed the MoU on behalf of NIDM. It was witnessed by Lt Col Dinesh Chander Vashista, Joint Director, NIDM, Prof. Santosh Kumar, NIDM. Shri Shekher Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor, NIDM and Dr. Preeti Soni, Senior Programme Consultant, IUIN-DRR, NIDM were also present on the occasion. Prof Sunil Dhar, Nodal officer and Dr. Vinay Kumar, Deputy Nodal Officer, for IUINDRR- CU Jammu represented and witnessed the MoU document on behalf of Central University of Jammu. The MoU has established linkages to strengthen and fulfil the 10 point agenda of the Honourable Prime Minister on DRR. Central University of Jammu in now member of the India Universities and Institutions Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (IUIN-DRR) of NIDM and has become part of academic discourses on Disaster Management at National Level. The MoU will pave the way for establishing a Centre of Disaster Management at central university of Jammu to impart independent courses on Disaster Risk Management at UG & PG level as well as discipline specific courses, carry out advance collaborative research in field of Disaster resilience, capacity building workshops and training of various stakeholders on the subject in the region. The MoU will further facilitate collaborative research projects, faculty exchange programmes. |
