Workshop on Measles-Rubella surveillance held in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Sept 10: The Health Department in association with World Health Organisation today organised a workshop on the Measles-Rubella (MR) Surveillance here in the conference Hall of PWD Dak Bungalow Rajouri.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan was the Chief Guest at the workshop held to sensitise the medical staff about Measles-Rubella surveillance.
The workshop was held as a part of a measles-rubella elimination campaign initiated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to eliminate measles and control congenital rubella syndrome by 2023.
During the workshop, the resource person Dr Ravinder Singh, Consultant WHO, sensitised the participants about the MR Surveillance methodology.
They were further made aware of the steps to be followed if a suspected case of Measles/Rubella is reported.
He also stated that as part of the measles-Rubella elimination strategy, there is a switch towards modified case-based surveillance, from outbreak mode of MR surveillance.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, encouraged the participants to carry out activities related to their profession very actively. He stressed the need to create awareness among the masses about these types of diseases which are still prevalent in society.
"Self Medication is another disease which needs to be addressed and often it leads to big trouble,'' the DC added.
The Deputy Commissioner also recalled the contribution of Doctors in the Fight against Covid and said the virus is still here and there is no chance for laxity.
He also said that the correct diagnosis at the correct time can save precious lives.
He said nobody can work in isolation and hence brainstorming with each other leads to a better understanding of things and can pave a way for better solutions to a problem.
The programme was attended by, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti, Deputy Chief Medical officer, Dr Aneees Altaf Nabi, DHO, Dr Khalid, District Information Officer, Narinder Kumar; BMOs, Doctors and other paramedical staff.
