Jammu, Sept 10: A joint delegation of S. O. S. International – An Organization for PoJK DPs and MJR-47 under the leadership of Rajiv Chuni and comprises of V. K. Datta, Harjit Singh, Manjit Singh and Ved Raj Bali met with the visiting Rahul Gandhi ex president All India Congress Committee and apprised him about the pangs and problems being faced by DPs of 1947 for last 74 years.
While apprising the visiting dignitaries, Chuni said that since the 74th year passed and the DPs of 1947 are still in exile and genocide was wreaked against them in 1947 for their ethnic cleaning from the soil of PoJK and near about 70000 persons including women and kids were brutally murdered.
While welcoming Rahul Gandhi in Jammu city, he said that the Pakistan has illegally occupied the native place of PoJK DPs and in this issue the DPs are not at fault.
He elaborated that due to the sacrifices made by the DPs of PoJK the Jammu and Kashmir is the part of country otherwise it has been taken away by the Pakistani invaders.
While mentioning the main demands of the PoJK DPs, he urged the visiting dignitary that the states are being ruled and semi-ruled by Congress party must grant reservation in professional and technical colleges of that state for the wards of PoJK DPs with relaxation in merit and fees. He further said that eight assembly seats out of 24 kept freeze in J&K should be de-freeze and made operational for PoJK DPs residing in J&K and outside J&K. He further said the then Congress-NC led government of J&K on October 2014 has approved the package for upliftment of PoJK DPs has not been implemented by the Government of India till date, so being the Congress main opposition exert pressure on the government to implement the package in toto.
Rahul Gandhi gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured that he will seriously consider the demands at earliest.
He expressed wonder that PoJK DPs are having the grave issue in the nation and it would be taken on priority by his party.
He on the spot instructed the state party leaders of his party to rake up the issue at party level at every forum.
