JU VC releases travel logs "Asfar-e-Shohab" written by Prof Shohab

JAMMU, Sept 14: “Asfar-e-Shohab” a collection of travel logs of Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Principal IMFA, and HOD Buddhist Studies was today released by Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu. The Book Release function was organized by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu in the Prof Gian Chand Jain Seminar Hall of the Department of Urdu. Students, scholars and teaching staff of the IMFA, Urdu department and Buddhist Studies attended the function. Speaking on the occasion Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu congratulated Prof Shohab Inayat Malik for publishing a collection of Travel logs titled “Asfar-e-Shohab”. He described Prof Shohab as a prominent writer of Urdu language and literature, who had travelled to a number of countries in connection with the promotion of Urdu language. The Travel Logs of Egypt, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Pakistan are impressive in the sense that it provides the knowledge of civilization, language and culture of these countries. Prof.M.K. Dhar further said that Prof. Shohab’s contributions to the development of the University of Jammu could not be ignored as he had organized a number of cultural and literary events which could be remembered for a long time. Prof Qudose Javed former H.O.D Urdu Kashmir University presented a detailed paper on “Asfar-e-Shohab”. He said that Prof Shohab had travelled to several countries outside India as well as several prominent places in India. He had written travelogues on these places which are very important in the sense that they provide a lot of information regarding the literary, cultural and educational scenario of these countries. Speaking on the occasion Aseer Kishtwari too highlighted the qualities of head and heart of Prof. Shohab. He described him not only an Urdu writer but also an organizer and administrator par excellence.
Prof Mohd Reyaz Ahmad, HOD Urdu who presented a vote of Thanks too congratulated Prof Malik.
