World Ozone Day: GDC Nowshera holds poster making competition

RAJOURI, Sept 17: Department of Zoology, Government Degree College Nowshera in collaboration with Eco-Club and NCC unit organized a poster making competition to mark the World Ozone Day and to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event began with the students and staff taking pledge for creating mass awareness about the impending need of protecting ozone layer and environment.
Faculty members and Students wowed to make every possible effort to restrict the ozone depleting substances and promote ozone friendly substances. They also vowed to restrict use of vehicles and also work to protect and save environment as well as all forms of life on earth.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Inam Ul Haq, Head of Department Zoology said that there are a number of things that one can do to protect the ozone layer. He stressed on minimizing the traffic emission by preferring local products over those brought from long distances. He further stressed on minimizing the emission of other gases that are dangerous to the ozone layer because of their manufacturing process or content.
Dr. Akhil Khajuria, CTO and Prof. Joginder Singh, ‘Coordinator IQAC appreciated the Zoology department and NCC unit of the college for promoting the cause of environment protection.
