NEW DELHI, Sept 17: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Friday, asked why 'some people' demanded Khalistan when the entire 'Hindustan' belongs to the Sikh community. Speaking at an event in the national capital, Singh said that the country will never forget the contribution of the Sikh community which helped the Indian culture sustain through historic challenges.
"I would say teach your youths the history of the Sikh community. This country will never forget the contribution of the Sikh community. Some people demand 'Khalistan'. Why do you talk about 'Khalistan', the entire 'Hindustan' is yours," Rajnath Singh said.
He further added that the Sikh community has a very glorious history but the irony is that many of them don't know their history. Addressing the young Sikh achievers at the book release of 'Shining Sikh Youth of India', Singh said that the Sikh community has propagated India's message that the entire world is one family.
Days ago, a top think tank in Washington said that Separatist Khalistani groups backed by Pakistan are gaining ground in the US. The report warned that such groups can emerge under different names like Pakistan-based terror groups. |
