DLSA launches public awareness campaign on legal services

JAMMU, Sept 17: District Legal Services Authority Jammu, in collaboration with Tehsil legal services Committee Bishnah, today launched a Special awareness campaign for providing Legal Services to the common citizens at Arnia. The Chief guest of the programme was Yaha Firdous Secretary District Legal Services Authority Jammu. Ananta Raina chairman TLSC Bishnah was also present on the occasion. The Awareness campaign was attended by President Bar Association D.K Singh, members of the Bar, Panel Lawyers, Chairman Municipal Committee Arnia Ramesh Saini, Vice Chairman Municipal Committee Arnia Sham Lal, BDC chairman Kuldeep Bhagat and staff of TLSC Bishnah.
The campaign started with NALSA theme song "Ek Muthi Aasmaan Par Haq Hmara bhi toh hai.''
The Secretary DLSA apprised the gathering about the various NALSA Schemes, Government Schemes, Rights of Women and Children and the benefits of the Lok Adalats. He also threw light on the rights of Senior citizens, provision of old age pension and said that the seniors are the responsibility of the society in which they live as the generation which neglects its elders and aged people commits crime. Ananta Raina, Chairman TLSC Bishnah made people aware about the fundamental rights and various legal schemes. "Poor and marginalized citizens are legally entitled to get lawyers free of charge when they need" she added. During the programme, videos of NALSA stories regarding Pension to the elderly citizens , Rights of Senior citizens and Rehabilitation for victims were also screened to raise awareness among the general masses. The proceedings of the Programme were conducted by Advocate Rajni Bala.
