GDC Kathua organizes awareness programme under ‘Poshan Maah’

KATHUA, Sep 17: The NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua in collaboration with Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Kathua organized an awareness programme under "Poshan Maah" under the patronage of Principal Prof Assa Ram Sharma.
In the awareness programme volunteers were aware to roped in to make locals especially lactating mother and pregnant women of NSS adopted villages of this and previous years. Volunteers are also enriched with various schemes associated with welfare of children, adolescent girls and women under ICDS.
The eminent personalities which were roped in to make programme a huge success included Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Shanti Devi and Supervisor-cum-Orator Sonika Ghai, who were the main resource persons on this occasion.
Besides it, participants were also briefed on Poshan Abhiyaan Maah, and various schemes like ICDS-SAG (Scheme for Adolescent Girls), Ladli Beti Scheme of UT of J&K which aimed at fixing declining sex ratio; Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojna (PMMVY) relating to maternal and child health; State marriage assistance, Adhaar enrollment etc.
The whole programme was organized under the supervision of Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma and Prof Neha Bandral, NSS Programme officer of NSS Units of GDC Kathua who were assisted by NSS Unit and volunteers of GDC Kathua. Prof Assa Ram Sharma Principal, GDC Kathua highly appreciated the move and congratulated the whole NSS team for organizing such a wonderful and valuable program for the welfare of the volunteers.
