| Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday celebrated at Sainik Colony | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 23: The 126th birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh was celebrated at Maharaja Hari Singh Chowk Sainik Colony. Thakur Jai Singh, senior Congress leader was the organizer of the function. Councillor Gurmeet Randhawa, Councillor Gourav Chopra and Councillor Sobat Ali were the guests of honour. On this occasion Th. Jai Singh talked about developments and reforms during Maharaja Hari Singh rule. Jai Singh said that Maharaj Hari Singh ruled the most troubled region of the sub continent during the most turbulent time of history when the sub continent was divided on the basis of religion. He took an all time historic decision and signed the instrument of accession in favour of India on 26th October 1947. J&K was the only state that was independent and was not under British rule. Today J&K is a part of democratic India and we are Indian because of Maharaja Hari Singh. Jai Singh demanded that 23rd September should be declared as holiday and appealed to Councillor Gurmeet Randhawa to install statue of Maharaja Hari Singh at Maharaja Hari Singh Chowk Sainik Colony. Singh also demanded that the statehood should be given back to J&K and no outside person should be allowed to take land or jobs in J&K. He also sought delimitation to be done on the basis of 2021 census and also demanded that the Reliance retail stores should not be opened in Jammu. |
