SCERT organizes online workshop on Copyright Act in India

JAMMU, Sept 23: In order to acquaint the library professionals of the Jammu province about the Copyright Act under Section 17, 1957, Library and Documentation wing of SCERT J&K Jammu organized a day long online workshop.
The programme was organized as per the directions of Principal Secretary to Government School Education Department, BK Singh and under the guidance of Director SCERT J&K, Professor Veena Pandita. The main aim of the programme was to know about how to copyright a book in India and how a book can be protected by copyright.
The program was inaugurated by worthy Joint Director, SCERT J&K, Jammu, Surinder Kumar who laid emphasis upon knowledge of copyright act specifically for library professionals.
Resource person Vidya Lal Ganjoo, Chief Librarian, Government Degree College Billawar, Kathua, was invited to accomplish the purpose regarding Copyright Act in India.
The workshop was coordinated by Ruchi Mohan, Librarian, SCERT J&K, Jammu who presented welcome address and also took a session regarding introduction, need and purpose of the Copyright Act through presentations.
A total of 20 library professionals from all 10 districts of Jammu province attended the program (2 participants from each district). The programme was supported by Irvinder Kour, Asstt Prof, SCERT, Jammu, Dr Sabeta Kohli, Academic Officer, Manju Choudhary (Master) and Pallavi Joshi (LA). Technical support was given by Akash Khajuria and Yugal Kishore.
The programme concluded with small valedictory session that included feedback from the participants. Vote of thanks was presented by Kishore Kumar, Associate Prof (CEO), SCERT J&K, Jammu and Head of Library & Documentation wing.
