| Court awards eight years rigorous imprisonment to self style godman in rape case | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 30: Additional Sessions Judge Kathua Kamlesh Pandita today awarded eight years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000 to one Balkar Singh self styled Godman who was facing trial in rape case.
The police case reads that on August 2, 2016 the complainant said that she was suffering from some disease and was undergoing mental agony and during that period complainant came in contact with the accused person namely Balkar Singh who was self styled godman assured her recovery if she agreed to undergo his divine treatment.
The accused became familiar with the family members of the complainant and started visiting her house and thereafter developed physical relation with the complainant on the assurance of marrying her. The complainant further reveals that in the month of April accused came to house of complainant and impregnated her. She disclosed to the accused that she was pregnant.
He flatly refused to marry her and told her that whatever she wanted to do, can do but he would not marry her. On this case under FIR no 70/2016 came to be registered u/s 376 RPC. After completion of investigation challan was presented which was today decided and court awarded eight years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000. |
