NSS National Awardee Vikas Pandita calls on VC JU

JAMMU, Sept 30: An alumni and NSS volunteer, Vikas Pandita from the University of Jammu was awarded the prestigious NSS National Award. The award was conferred by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind on 24th September 2021, the day celebrated as NSS Day.
Vikas Pandita, NSS Volunteer secured first rank in All Over India Merit for the NSS Award. After going through a series of evaluations and scrutiny at various stages right from the University Level to National Level, he has been selected by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India for this award.
Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu congratulated Vikas Pandita for his speculator achievement which has brought laurels to the J&K UT in general and the University of Jammu in particular. Recognition of Vikas as NSS volunteer is the badge of honour for NSS of Jammu University and it shall definitely motivate other volunteers that if they work tirelessly and selflessly they can also get recognized at the highest level, said the Vice Chancellor.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Controller of Examinations JU, also lauded the achievements of Vikas Pandita and said that he is a go-getter and always volunteered himself for outreach programmes.
Prof Neeru Sharma, Convenor, JU NSS Campus Unit said that it's a great honour that one of the NSS Volunteers has been placed in merit at the National Level and was awarded by the President of India.
It is noteworthy to mention here that Vikas Pandita has represented India in South Korea in the year 2019 during the International Youth Exchange Program. He is currently working as a Systems Engineer in one of India's Leading IT Company, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. He is also the Founder and Chairman of the Seva Foundation.
Among others, Dr Vinay Thusoo, Nodal Officer, Prime Minister's Swacch Bharat Internship Programme, Dr Anju Thappa, Programme Coordinator, NSS, Sr Programme Officers Dr Savita Nayyar & Dr Meghna Dhar and Programme Officers Dr Isha Sharma, Dr Harjinder Singh, Dr Savita Nayyar, Dr Amit Sharma and Dr Neelam Choudhary were also present on the occasion.
