DSEJ hosts webinar to mark end of 'Poshan Mah' activities

JAMMU, Sept 30: A month long campaign to create awareness amongst students, their families, teaching community, other officials and stakeholders regarding the importance of healthy eating, hygiene and a healthy lifestyle organised under the Government Of India initiative 'Poshan Mah' by the Directorate of School Education Jammu culminated today with a webinar being organised, in which students and staff members from different schools of Jammu Division participated. Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director School Education, Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the participants, he said that healthy eating habits along with proper hygiene ensure all-round development of a human being and the traditional Indian staple diet has always been rich in nutritional content and other supplements. Proper awareness about our traditional food can go a long way in fighting against malnutrition and allied deficiency syndromes.
He congratulated the teaching community and other officials of the Directorate for organizing an array of events to create awareness about food, nutrition, health and hygiene amongst students in particular and community at large.
Payal Shan from GGHSS Kishtwar, Kamakshi Sharma, GHSS Batote, Ramban, Mehr-ul-nisa, GHSS Bhalra, Bhaderwah, Distt. Doda, Rajni Sharma, GHSS Laiter, Distt. Reasi, Nafia Salam, GGHSS Poonch and Bhoomika Sharma from GHSS Barmeen, Distt. Udhampur also addressed the participants covering the issue comprehensively through beautiful presentations.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Directorate of School Education Jammu, for the past one month has been organising various events including webinars, lectures, discussions, debates, plays, skits etc to disseminate information and create awareness amongst students and other stakeholders about nutrition, health and hygiene.
The webinar was organised by the Directorate through the Cultural Cell and the proceedings of the day were carried out by Supriya Sharma, while technical support was provided by Ashutosh Sharma.
