Sports play vital role to keep youth away from drugs: Ch Manmohan

JAMMU, Oct 25: Former Mayor Jammu Ch Manmohan Singh asserted that gyms and sports can play a pivotal role in keeping youth away from the scourge of drugs and alcohol. This was stated by Ch Manmohan Singh while inaugurating an open gym facility near the parking slot of Gurdwara Nanak Nagar in Sector 2 here today. Karan Singh Wazir, son of late Tarlochan Singh Wazir also accompanied during the inauguration of the gym. The gym was inaugurated in the memory of late Vijay Chowdhary (ex-Councillor JMC Ward No 42 ) and Tarlochan Singh Wazir (ex-Chairman J&K SGPB).
Ch Manmohan, while addressing the gathering, said that the teen age is a tender age and people should take extra care during this phase of life of their children to keep them away from drug abuse. He said that gyms and other sporting activities provide an opportunity to the young kids to vent their extra energy in the right direction instead of falling prey to drugs and alcohol. He said that the open gym facility which has been opened today will help in channelizing the energy of the youth towards positivity and will go a long way in crafting their bright future.
Karan Singh also asked the youth to take benefit of this facility in leading a healthy life. He said that health is the ultimate wealth because without good health nothing is worth.
DGPC Secretary Fateh Singh, Manmohan Singh Member DGPC Jammu, Inder Singh Soodan Councillor Ward 44, Anita Sharma Councillor, Rajinder Singh President local Gurdwara Sahib, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Manjit Singh Secretary local Gurdwara Sahib and others were also present.
