| GCW Udhampur organizes webinar on “Importance of Mathematics” | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, Oct 25: Department of Mathematics, Govt. College for Women (GCW) Udhampur organized a one day webinar on the topic “Importance of Mathematics” under the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav initiative by MHRD Govt of India under the guidance of Principal Prf. Minu Mahajan on Google meet platform. The programme began with the formal welcome address by Dr Ashok Kumar, Head of the Department. In his welcoming remarks about the resource person he enlightened the students about his achievements and encouraged them to attend such type of Webinars/Seminars organized in the college from time to time. Prof Minu Mahajan, Principal of the college while addressing the students encouraged the department to organize such programmes in future also. The resource person on the occasion was Dr Pavinder Singh, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, Central University of Jammu, Jammu. He delivered a lecture on the topic touching different dimension encompassing vast knowledge in an hour lecture. In his lecture, he made the students aware about the importance of Mathematics in their daily life and the different prizes in Mathematics such as Fields Medal, Abel’s Prize, Shanti Savroop Bhatnagar Award etc. Further, he inspired the students to learn Mathematics by reading good books of international standard. At the end he interacted with the students and tried to inculcate the spirit of learning Mathematics in them. About 100 students actively participated in the webinar. The students enjoyed the lecture and enhanced their knowledge about the topic. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Jugal Kishore, organizing secretary of the programme. |
