2 killed in Jammu shootout

Jammu, Nov 5: Two persons were killed and one seriously injured when some ‘unidentified’ gunmen fired at them from Ak-47 rifle on Friday morning in Arnia belt here in the city outskirts.
Police sources said that two persons died on the spot and one suffered critical injuries when they were shot at by some ‘unidentified’ persons in Kothe village of Arnia tehsil.
The deceased have been identified as Arif Khan and Mohammad Sabar, both residents of Chak Mohammad Yar R S Pura.
The injured person namely Babar has been hospitalised and is under treatment, police sources said.
Meanwhile as per reports, involvement of two police personnel is also surfacing in the attack.
“The attackers fired from AK 47 and more than twelve shells of the rifle were also recovered at the spot,” sources said, adding that the attackers came in a SUV and shot at three youth boarded in a jeep.
The attackers fled away later, they said.
Police teams on getting the information rushed to the site and seized one vehicle, sharp weapons, hockey sticks and a police uniform from the vehicle.
“We are investigating the matter. Details about attackers are being ascertained,” said a senior police officer.
However, police sources said that drugs and money transactions cannot be ruled out to be a reason behind the attack.
